i enjoyed the hotel and the views the staff were friendly and my stay was enjoyable

i did e-mail regarding an upgrade or sea view room but never got a reply where as when i stayed in the clayton in february they replied immediately that was the only fault i had with the galway bay hotel

The restuarant and bar area was good the location of the hotel was good although 9 euros by taxi into galway city centre.

Reception booking not correct on arrival. Room pea stains around toilet base. Old and in need of updating. Leisure faciitlies appauling smalll pool for size of hotel. Changing facilitties a shower curtain divided two shower, the lockers don't lock. Steam room has three double plastic garden chairs in it to sit on. Sauna has no timer in it. It felt grubby. The restaurant was spot on, service, food and cleanliness excellent.

Location - convenience to Salthill & Galway city. Food especially breakfast. Very friendly & helpful staff. Room was excellent also.

Being able to swim in the hotel pool which was quiet first thing in the morning and being able to walk along by the seafront at any time. It was within walking distance of some nice eateries catering for a range of budgets.

I can understand but did not like the fact that our request for a sea view was not considered because of the organistion of bookings for a wedding party. Perhaps I'd have felt better about it if the information about the lack of sea view room availability was made clear at the time of booking on the website, or if it was made clear that priority was always given to wedding parties in terms of the hotel rooms. What was worse was the quiet area of the hotel to which we were assigned because of the wedding party turned out to be not so quiet. At 3am in the morning other male drunken guests banged on our door from inside the hotel while others threw stones at the window from the balcony outside!. I'm guessing a case of mistaken expectations with someone else or perhaps an alternative to the Walton's goodnight ritual!

I found the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. I'm an older person who needs a quiet room and some extra help with luggage. I could not have been made more welcome.

            Nothing negative at all.

Staff -both at front desk and at breakfast were excellent

Could not be described as a 4* hotel, noisy room at back entrance beside funfair, underground car park badly laid out and very shabby, where did you purchase the loo paper,

Location of hotel is great you are right on the sea front. The staff are very friendly . We had a lovely stay and would go back again.

            10.0

This hotel is very nice and has the best location just in front of the Galway bay. Everything was perfect, the room was spotless, food was good, service was great, and the director Mr. Murphy is the best!

          • Older travelers
            8.8

Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and ideal location. Short walk into Salthill with its restaurants and bars.

          • Older travelers
            10.0

Reception staff excellent especially Ger and Annie, nothing was to much trouble

Only one thing that could be improved. The breakfast service although was buffet it was served to you and the wait to be served could get quite difficult. They should let people serve themselves this would help people like myself who need only small breakfast but had to wait in line for people eating big.

          • Family with children
            7.0

we enjoyed our short stay, found the staff very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very substantial. Good venue ,near to sea front pity about the weather

            8.8

            Great location & lovely breakfast.

In present climate I think the rates are on high side paid 340 for two nights.Hotel beginning to show wear & tear.

          • Older travelers
            6.6

Most staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful

Receptionist was dismissive and rude when we asked to be moved away from noisy fairground, as we were staying 2 nights. Her response was"well someone has to have that room"! No fridge, water etc surprising for the extortionate price of €290 for 2 nights.

We enjoyed the beautiful walks along the coast.
